Aim

To study different types of motion (uniform, uniformly accelerated, decelerated) and understand the relationships between displacement, velocity, and acceleration.

Apparatus

  • Ticker tape timer (or motion sensor)
  • Trolley / Cart on track
  • Power supply for ticker timer
  • Ruler / Measuring tape
  • Inclined plane (for acceleration)
๐Ÿงช

Procedure

  1. Set up the ticker timer and thread the tape.
  2. Give the trolley a push for uniform motion โ€” observe equal spacing.
  3. Use inclined plane for accelerated motion โ€” observe increasing spacing.
  4. Calculate velocity for each interval using v = ฮ”s/ฮ”t.
  5. Plot position-time, velocity-time, and acceleration-time graphs.
