  • Battery / DC power supply
  • Ammeter
  • Voltmeter
  • Rheostat / Variable resistor
  • Connecting wires
  • Resistor (known value)
  • Key / Switch

Procedure

  1. Connect the circuit: battery โ†’ key โ†’ ammeter โ†’ resistor โ†’ battery.
  2. Connect the voltmeter in parallel across the resistor.
  3. Close the key and note the ammeter and voltmeter readings.
  4. Vary the resistance using the rheostat to get different readings.
  5. Plot V vs I graph โ€” it should be a straight line through origin.
