Aim
To study the relationship between length and time period of a simple pendulum, and to verify T = 2ฯโ(L/g).
๐งฐ
Apparatus
- Clamp stand with clamp
- Thread / String (inextensible)
- Bob (metallic sphere)
- Stopwatch
- Meter scale
- Split cork
๐งช
Procedure
- Clamp the pendulum at a fixed height using split cork.
- Measure the effective length L from point of suspension to centre of bob.
- Displace the bob slightly (< 15ยฐ) and release.
- Measure time for 20 complete oscillations using stopwatch.
- Calculate T (period) = total time / 20.
- Repeat for different lengths and plot Tยฒ vs L graph.
