Aim

To verify the laws of reflection: (1) angle of incidence = angle of reflection, and (2) the incident ray, reflected ray, and normal all lie in the same plane.

Apparatus

  • Plane mirror
  • Protractor / Circular disc
  • Pins (drawing pins)
  • Drawing board
  • White paper
  • Scale / Ruler
๐Ÿงช

Procedure

  1. Fix white paper on drawing board.
  2. Draw a line and place the mirror on it.
  3. Draw a normal (perpendicular) at the point of incidence.
  4. Place two pins along the incident ray.
  5. Looking from the other side, place two more pins such that all four appear in line.
  6. Measure angle of incidence and angle of reflection with protractor.
  7. Repeat for different angles.
