Respiration Lab Experiment

Demonstrate aerobic and anaerobic respiration using interactive simulations.

Biology Class 9-10 Life-processes Intermediate
Prelab Brief
To demonstrate that COโ‚‚ is released during respiration by germinating seeds.
๐Ÿ“˜

Theory

Demonstrate aerobic and anaerobic respiration using interactive simulations. To demonstrate that COโ‚‚ is released during respiration by germinating seeds.

โˆ‘

Formula

Principle: To demonstrate that COโ‚‚ is released during respiration by germinating seeds.

๐ŸŽฏ

Aim

To demonstrate that COโ‚‚ is released during respiration by germinating seeds.

๐Ÿงฐ

Apparatus

  • Conical flask
  • Germinating seeds (gram/pea)
  • KOH solution (to absorb COโ‚‚)
  • Lime water (Ca(OH)โ‚‚)
  • Delivery tube
  • Cotton plug
๐Ÿงช

Procedure

  1. Place germinating seeds in a conical flask.
  2. Connect the flask to a test tube containing lime water via delivery tube.
  3. Seal the flask with a cotton plug.
  4. Leave for 1-2 hours.
  5. Observe the lime water turning milky โ†’ confirms COโ‚‚ release.
  6. Repeat with boiled (dead) seeds as control โ€” no change in lime water.
